Players can get these parts from gifting from other players or by getting them from probes when they do Exploration missions. Building a Colony Ship requires Colonization Technology research and parts to construct the ship. Aside from buying the Colony Ship components from the Galactic Market, they can acquire components as listed below. Players can purchase parts of the Colony Ship from the Galactic Market. There are two ways of getting additional colony ships. Players will not be able to colonize currently inhabited planets. Once the planet has been colonized, they will be able to choose a name for the planet and begin construction of structures immediately. Once they have acquired a Colony Ship and have researched Colonization level 1, they can go to the Galaxy Map to locate an unknown and/or uninhabited planet and click on the 'Colonize' button to send in their Colony Ship. Note that Colonization level 1 research has prerequisites of Terraforming level 3, Agriculture level 3 and Impulse drive level 3. Players also have to research Colonization level 1 before they can launch their Colony Ship. Players get their first Colony Ship by completing the Beginner Quests. A player can colonize planets if they have Colony Ships. By getting more colonies, they can extract from the planet's resources so they can research more technologies, construct more ships and build more structures. In Space Empires: Battle for Supremacy, players can expand their dominion by colonizing uninhabited planets.
